A FACTION of the Benue State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has summoned an emergency meeting amid growing concerns of violent brawls between supporters of the two main factions of the party in the state.
In a notice signed by factional Publicity Secretary, Daniel Ihomun, the factional Chairman, Comrade Austin Agada, has invited key party stakeholders to the meeting scheduled to hold on Saturday, March 22, 2025 by 3pm.
The invitation to the factional meeting, scheduled to hold at the Congress Hall of the APC State Secretariat (Tinubu House), 75 JS Tarka Way, Makurdi, has been extended to members of the APC State Working Committee, their Assistants as well as chairmen of the APC in all 23 local government areas and 276 wards.
The notice also directed the ward chairmen to attend the meeting alongside their executive members in a single bus.
The announcement comes amid growing tension following a recent decision by the APC National Working Committee, which officially recognised Dr. Benjamin Omale as the party’s Caretaker Committee Chairman in Benue State.
Omale has since assumed control of the APC State Secretariat, which had previously been locked.
The development has sparked anxiety and widespread speculation that Omale may resist the planned meeting at the secretariat.
Sources fear that any attempt to forcefully proceed with the gathering could lead to chaos and instability.
There are concerns that such a situation might be exploited as grounds to call for a state of emergency in Benue State, similar to recent events in Rivers State as it is being rumored in some quarters.

It is clear already that those who seek to distract Fr. Alia in his mission in Benue State are already seen as the real enemies of the people. The politics that strives to flex power just for the sake of it only and to cause obstructions in order to hinder the progress of positive things, is EVIL POLITICS.
