GUNMEN on Friday raided three banks, Zenith Bank, Stanbic Bank and United Bank of Africa (UBA) in Otukpo Town, Benue State, the headquarters of Idoma land.
About ten persons were reportedly killed by the gunmen including security personnel, an eyewitness told National Record in a chat on condition of anonymity.
The source who said he narrowly escaped death during the robbery operation, said the criminals were moving from bank to bank without being countered by security operatives.
“Just now, I went to get drugs in the pharmacy and I entered into them. Some people are killed now oooooo,” the eyewitness cried.
National Record gathered that three policemen were among the ten persons reportedly killed in the operation which began at about 4:30pm and lasted for two hours.
Benue State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Superintendent of Police (SP) Sewuese Anene, confirmed the robbery incident but did not provide details of the dead.
