A VIDEO clip that captured staff members of the Federal Ministry of Women Affairs, wildly celebrating the removal of the Minister of Women Affairs, Barr. Uju Kennedy Ohanenye, has emerged.
The video, which is believed to have been recorded on Wednesday, at the ministry’s headquarters at the Central Business District, Abuja, captured the staff in joyful celebration, jumping and moving around in excitement and uncontrollable ululations.
There chants of “finally, finally” and “jubilation” as the staff celebrated in the offices of the ministry.
Ohanenye, one of the ministers removed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Wednesday, was immediately replaced by Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, a former Minister of State for Police Affairs, whose nomination will be forwarded to the Senate for screening along with 6 other nominees.
Also removed as ministers include Lola Ade-John of Tourism; Jamila Bio Ibrahim of Youth Development; Prof. Tahir Mamman of Education; and Abdullahi Muhammad Gwarzo of Housing and Urban Development.
The celebration may not be unconnected with the sacked minister’s alleged high-handedness on staff matters especially welfare.
The minister was also alleged to have diverted N1.5 billion meant for capital projects under her tenure, which led to a confrontation with the House of Representatives’ Committee on Women Affairs and Social Development.
