THE Benue State Government has eventually deployed a detachment of mobile police personnel to the boundary between the warring communities of Mbasombo and Mbaivur at Ikpayongo in Gwer-East LGA of Benue State to maintain peace.
A source from Ikpayongo who pleaded anonymity told our correspondent via phone call that the police officers were deployed to the crisis-ridden area on Friday.
Benue State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Superintendent of Police (SP) Sewuese Anene, exclusively confirmed the deployment of police personnel to National Record on Saturday.
The deployment of the police is coming barely two weeks after National Record reported on July 3rd that Mbasombo residents had cried out to the state government to deploy security personnel to the border area rather than congregate them at Ikpayongo township as their women were being raped and men killed on their farms despite government’s warning to confiscate Mbaivur’s land and sack their natives from Government offices if they continued to bully and attack Mbasombo community.
