THE UNIVERSITY of Jos (UNIJOS) has offered admission to 67 foreign students from 13 African countries for the 2024/2025 academic session.

Prof. Tanko Ishaya, Vice Chancellor (VC) of the university, disclosed this in a brief ceremony organised to formally welcome the students into the institution on Monday in Jos.

Ishaya explained that the students were offered admission into the university’s various undergraduate programmes, including Medicine and Surgery.

He listed other courses as Economics, History and International Studies, Computer Science. Nursing and Law, among others.

He explained that the students were from Sierra Leone, Gambia, Togo and Zimbabwe, among other countries.

Ishaya expressed the university’s commitment to reviving its exchange programme, insisting such practice would significantly contribute to boosting the country’s image internationally.

The vice chancellor commended the Rochas Foundation College of Africa for convincing the newly admitted students to choose the University of Jos for their studies.

“These efforts have strengthened our relationship with foreign educational institutions and intensified our commitment to providing quality education beyond the shores of Nigeria.

“I want to assure the new students; we will ensure you are comfortable; we will also provide a conducive and peaceful learning environment for all of you.

“I want to believe that your stay in this institution will be both fulfilling and memorable,” he said.

Earlier, Mr Ashwe Felix, the officer in charge of operations, Rochas Foundation, said that the students were adequately prepared to pursue their academic journeys at the University of Jos.

Felix said the foundation had enrolled more than 3,000 foreign students into various institutions in Nigeria.

According to him, more will also seek admission into the University of Jos upon completion of their secondary education

“The students have been properly trained and are now ready to pursue their academic dreams in this institution.” (NAN)
