THE Executive Chairman, Benue State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Comrade Joseph Utse, has charged School Based Management Committee (SBMC) members to ensure quality education delivery in their various Schools.
Comrade Utse gave the charge Thursday in a key note address delivered at a Stakeholders Sensitisation meeting with Education Stakeholders on the implementation of 2021/2022 School Based Improvement program in Makurdi, the Benue state capital organized by the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC), Abuja in collaboration with Benue SUBEB.
The Executive Chairman who was represented by Permanent Member 1 at the Board, Hon. Mike Kusah, noted that the school Based Management Committee has been globally accepted by all Education stakeholders as a veritable channel to promote ideal school governance.
He reiterated that the present administration under Governor Samuel Ortom, is passionate about education, hence urged all Education Stakeholders to give their support to the development of the Education sector particularly at the Basic level.
Comrade Utse implored SBMC members to join hands with people living around where their schools are located so as to achieve adequate security in their schools.
He also called for judicious and effective use of whatever funds meant for school development and cautioned against diverting it to personal benefits.
Earlier in a welcome address, the Director of Social Mobilization, Mr Emmanuel Ejeh thanked UBEC for its support over the years.
He enjoined participants to wholeheartedly embrace and make judicious use of the knowledge acquired at the training, saying it will further strengthen their capacity on school project implementation and modalities on how to perform their duties.
In separate remarks, Benue State UBEC Coordinator and Abuja UBEC Representative, Mr Emmanuel Baba, and Patricia Oche respectively enjoined SBMC Members to ensure that every project in their schools is geared towards improving learning in their various communities. They also encouraged equity and fairness in the selection process.
Other Stake holders present at the meeting were Board Members and Management of Benue SUBEB, the State NUT Chairman, Comr. Levi Akuma, the State AOPHON Chairman, Comrade Ambrose Alechenu representative of CSACEFA Mrs Rosemary Hua, State SBMC Chairman, Education Secretaries, Heads of Social Mobilization at the LGEAs and Social Mobilization officers.
