A TRAVEL Agent, Mr Wasiu Onifade, 55, on Thursday appeared before an Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court, Ibadan, over an alleged N1.5 million visa fraud.

Onifade, was charged with obtaining money under false pretence and stealing, to which he pleaded not guilty.

The Prosecutor, Insp. Adeshina Folaranmi, told the court that the defendant committed the offence between August 2024 and May 2025, at Soka, Ibadan.

He alleged that the defendant obtained the sum of N1.5 million from one Mrs Ramati Aregbe, with the pretext of procuring a Saudi Arabia visa for her but failed to do so.

He said the defendant rather converted the money to his personal use.

Folaranmi said the offence contravened Sections 419 and 390(9) of the Criminal Laws of Oyo State, 2000.

The Magistrate, Mrs Oluwabusayo Osho granted the defendant bail in the sum of N1 million and two sureties in like sum.

She adjourned the case until March 2, 2026, for hearing. (NAN)
