THE Tinubu-Must-Stay (TMS), a political support group, has appointed Marcel Ngogbehei as the Director-General of its alliance with the Directorate of Mobilisation and Integration (DMI), ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The movement said the appointment was informed by Ngogbehei’s experience in public service, technology, grassroots political mobilisation and community development in Nigeria and the United Kingdom.
Announcing the appointment, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of TMS Mr Kashifu Abdullahi, described Ngogbehei as a trusted colleague whose leadership abilities he had known for more than 25 years.
In a statement on Wednesday in Abuja by the Communications Directorate of the alliance, Abdullahi said he had witnessed Ngogbehei’s leadership abilities for over two decades.
“I have known Ngogbehei for over 25 years. We have worked together, faced difficult challenges together and delivered results together. I know his character, I know his ability, and I trust him to deliver,” Abdullahi said.
Abdullahi, who is also Director-General of the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), recalled working with Ngogbehei at Galaxy Backbone Plc and the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
He said they contributed to major technology initiatives, including the Integrated Personnel and Payroll Information System (IPPIS) and the CBN Cashless Policy and the bank’s Enterprise Architecture function.
He said the Enterprise Architecture initiative helped the bank achieve savings of more than one million dollars.
“These were not just technology projects, they were about making government systems work better, reducing waste, improving efficiency and building institutions that serve Nigerians,’’ he said.
He described the DG as a loyal, trustworthy and dependable colleague who understands how to move ideas from discussion to implementation.
NAN reports that Ngogbehei, a Computer and Electronics Engineering graduate of Lagos State University, attended the London Business School Sloan programme.
NAN also reports that he undertook professional development through Harvard Business School’s HBX programme.
He also founded GiveBack2Humanity, an initiative focused on youth mentorship, volunteerism and community development, and established the Marcel Ngogbehei Centre for Cancer Education and Care.
He also played an organisational role in Peter Obi’s 2023 presidential campaign, serving as Director of Strategy of the Peter Obi Support Network and later Chairman of the Coalition for Peter Obi (CPO).
As DG, Ngogbehei is expected to oversee organisational coordination, grassroots engagement and civic-accountability activities.
Meanwhile, TMS has questioned whether opposition parties have presented sufficiently detailed plans to address Nigeria’s major challenges, urging them to offer practical alternatives to government policies.
“Nigerians are tired of promises without clear plans. If you say the government is wrong, tell the people what you will do better.
“How will you create jobs? How will you reduce the cost of living? How will you improve electricity, schools and hospitals? And where will the money come from?” the movement stated.
The movement said its programme would include public discussions on government performance, examination of alternative policy proposals and engagement with communities across Nigeria. (NAN)
