National Record spoke with Comrade Abdullahi on November 1, 2021 on telephone.
National Record (NR): When did you retire from the services of NULGE?
Comrade Abdullahi: I retired since 2018.
NR: Has the union paid you anything since you retired?
Abdullahi: Since they retired me, they gave me N159,000 only out of my N1.95 million.
NR: since then, you’ve not been paid anything?
Abdullahi: The have not given me even one kobo!
NR: What about your gratuity?
Abdullahi: Gratuity? My gratuity is N1,950,000.
NR: What about your pension? Are you now receiving pension?
Abdullahi: They don’t give us pension; they said no payment of pension.
NR: Where pension deductions not made from your salaries when you were in service?
Abdullahi: They deducted but they never gave us.
NR: When did you join the services of NULGE?
Abdullahi: I joined NULGE in 1991; 1st July, 1991, and I retired 2018. I put in 29 years. My plan was to retire 2020 but when we started telling them the truth on the situation in NULGE, they said we were being stubborn and so they retired me. I have left everything to God. After they retired me, I wrote to them, I wrote to the DGS, the present DGS, Comrade Ayo; he is aware of my details. I have left everything to God.

NR: In terms of pension deductions, do you know the amount that is supposed to be in your account?
Comrade Abdullahi: I know; that of gratuity is N1.95 million, that of pension I will call you later.
