THE EAGLE ONLINE will continue to operate following the death of its founder, Oladotun Samson Oladipo, the Oladipo family has said.
In a statement signed by Taiwo Oladipo, the family assured readers, advertisers, partners and other stakeholders that the digital news publication would continue despite the loss of its founder.
Oladipo died on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, in what the family described as a devastating shock to his relatives and those who knew him.
The family said it was still coming to terms with his death, while expressing appreciation to the readers, colleagues, friends, advertisers, partners and well-wishers of The Eagle Online who had reached out following his passing.
According to the statement, Oladipo devoted a significant part of his life to journalism and founded The Eagle Online in 2012.
The publication, the family said, was built over the years into a respected digital news platform with a loyal readership, strong name recognition and the confidence of advertisers and business partners.
“Dotun was deeply passionate about The Eagle Online and regarded it not merely as a business, but as a platform for responsible journalism and public service,” the family said.
The family said Oladipo had also made provisions for the continuity of the publication, noting that he had put in place “some form of a business continuity plan” before his death.
It said the plan had since been activated and was being refined to ensure that The Eagle Online continued to operate in line with its founder’s vision.
The assurance is expected to provide clarity to the publication’s readers and commercial partners following the sudden death of its founder.
The family acknowledged the trust that readers and other stakeholders had placed in The Eagle Online over the years, saying it did not take that confidence for granted.
“Our intention is to preserve the legacy Dotun worked so hard to build while ensuring that the publication continues to grow and serve its readers effectively,” the statement said.
The family also reassured advertisers and commercial partners that their existing relationships and commitments remained important as the publication navigates the transition.
“We look forward to your continued confidence and support as we navigate this transition,” it said.
While mourning Oladipo’s death, the family asked for continued prayers, understanding and support from those who had stood by the family and The Eagle Online since his passing.
Oladipo’s death brings to an end the life of a journalist who, through The Eagle Online, dedicated more than a decade to building a digital news platform.
The family said his work would continue despite his passing.
“Dotun may have left us, but the work to which he devoted so much of his life will continue,” the statement said.
The family concluded with a reaffirmation of its commitment to the publication: “The Eagle Online will continue to fly.”
