GUNMEN suspected to be herdsmen militia have launched yet another attack on the residents of Antsa and Tse-Atungu near Alfred Akawe Torkula Polytechnic, Makurdi, injuring eight persons.
An eyewitness, Mr Jude Torkwwaor, told newsmen in Makurdi on Monday that the attackers, allegedly numbering up to ten, armed with guns and other dangerous weapons, shot sporadically at the victims and left them in the pool of blood.
According to him, the attackers stormed the two villages at about 10pm when some residents were already sleeping.

The development led to the blockage of the road leading to Joseph Saawuan Tarka University for over 5 hours.
Caretaker chairman of Makurdi LGA, Mr James Dwem, who visited the affected areas in the company of Mue Ter, Chief Simon Ajo, lamented the unprovoked attack on the communities but urged them to remain calm, saying the incident was reported to security agencies.
Benue State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Superintendent of Police (SP) Sewuese Anene, was yet to confirm the attack despite chats sent to her WhatsApp group for journalists.
This is the second attack in the area by suspected herdsmen within a period of 6 days. The first attack happened on May 25, 2024.
