THE National President of Saint Mathew Edumoga Catholic Community, (SMECC), Mr Sunday Adokwu, has condoled with Igama Community and leaders in Edumoga District of Okpokwu LGA of Benue State over the recent attack in which 14 people were killed and properties worth millions of naira touched in the early hours of June 12.
Mr Adokwu, in a statement on behalf of the National Executive Council of SMECC, made available to National Record, condemned the dastardly act and called on security agencies to fish out the perpetrators and bring them to justice.
“We received the news of the gruesome attack on Igama Community which led to the death of many villagers. We join all well-meaning Benue citizens and other Nigerians to condemn this unprovoked attack at Igama and environs and call on security agencies to intensify efforts towards arresting the remaining culprits and bringing them to book.
Mr Adokwu commended the prompt response of well-meaning Benue personalities and groups in the donation of relief materials.
He called on Edumoga sons and daughters both at home and abroad to intensify efforts at convening an urgent summit to tackle the security challenges in Edumoga communities.
The Benue State Police Command announced last week the arrest of four suspects in connection with the June 12 massacre in Igama.
