THE RIVERS State House of Assembly will on Wednesday re-screen and re-confirm nine former commissioners who resigned from the state executive council in the wake of the crisis between Governor Fubara and Nyesom Wike, former governor of the state and current governor of Rivers State.
This is contained in a statement signed by the Clerk of the River State House of Assembly, Mr Emeka Amadi, on Monday in Port Harcourt.
The clerk listed the former commissioners to be re-screened and re-confirmed to include Prof. Zacchaeus Adangor (SAN), Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Dr Des George-Kelly, Commissioner for Works, Emeka Woke, Commissioner for Special Duties, Mrs Inime Aguma, Commissioner for Social Welfare and Rehabilitation, and Isaac Kamalu, Commissioner for Finance.
Others are Prof. Chinedu Mmom, the Commissioner for Education, Dr Gift Worlu, Commissioner for Housing, Dr Jacobson Nbina, Commissioner for Transport, and Austin Ben-Chioma, Commissioner for Environment.

He said they are expected to produce 40 sets of their curriculum vitae (CV), photocopies as well as original copies of their credentials to the State House of Assembly, Legislative Quarters (venue for the screening).
The commissioners resigned their appointments on December 16, 2023, a gale of resignations following the escalation of political crisis between Governor Fubara and his godfather predecessor, Wike. The reinstatement of the former commissioners who resigned their appointments formed part of the demands of President Tinubu’s peace agreement with the Governor Fubara. (NAN)
