Primaries Fallout: APC Chairman Advises Aggrieved Aspirants To Accept Defeat

THE ALL Progressives Congress (APC) Chairman in Nasarawa State, Alhaji Aliyu Bello, has advised aggrieved aspirants in the just concluded primaries of the party to accept defeat in good faith.

Bello gave the advice on Monday when he led members of the State Working Committee of the party on a thank you visit to the Speaker, Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Dr Danladi Jatau in Lafia

The APC Chairman said that the visit was to appreciate the speaker for accepting the outcome of the APC primaries for Karu/Keffi/Kokona Federal Constituency in good faith.

Bello said that he led the members of working committee of the party on the visit to the Speaker for accepting the outcome of the primary election considering his position as speaker of the state legislature.

The APC chairman urged those who couldn’t make it in the just concluded APC primaries to emulate the speaker by accepting the outcome in the interest of peace, unity, progress and development of the party.

“We came as a party, first to appreciate him for being a man of God, a man of faith and man who believes in destiny.

“After the APC primaries, despite the outcome of the primaries, the Speaker came out clearly to identify with the party, the Governor and all the party winners.

“It is something that needs to be appreciated and we came to appreciate him. The speaker has really shown to the world that he believes in God. If it was somebody else that was Speaker of the state legislature, he would do something differently,” he said.

Bello said that other aspirants should emulate the speaker and demonstrate spirit of sportsmanship.

“The message is either you win or you lose. Some of them won other times and some people supported them. So we appeal that if you lose this time, tomorrow is another day. There are other positions in the state and federal that you can be appointed into. So, we are calling on those that lost out during the party primaries to emulate the speaker by accepting defeat in good faith” the chairman said.

According to him, leadership comes from God, hence the need for politicians not to over heat the polity.

Responding, Dr Danladi Jatau, Speaker, Nasarawa State House of Assembly, appreciated the chairman and his team for the visit and assured them of his continued commitment to the victory of the party beyond 2027.

“Today, I received the State APC Chairman and other officials. They are here to appreciate me. Secondly, they are also here to console me for what has happened in the last APC primaries.

“I have accepted it even in the chamber as the will of God. That is how its supposed to be as leadership comes from God.

“And I have moved on. We should move forward for the victory of the party” he said.

The speaker assured the party leadership of his continued commitment to mobilise support for the victory of the party candidates in 2027. (NAN)
