THE PRESIDENCY has promised to support victims of fire outbreak in Karon-majigi, a colony for Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
Mr Abba Isa, Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to the President on Special needs and Equal Opportunities gave the assurance when he visited the site of the fire outbreak at the colony located along Airport Road, Abuja.
Isa who assessed the level of destruction by the inferno which destroyed the makeshift residence and properties of the PWDs assured that the government would come to the victims’ aid.
He also called on well spirited Nigerians and organisations to support the victims of the fire outbreak.
The aide reiterated President Bola Tinubu’s commitment to ensure welfare and wellbeing of PWDs in line with the renewed hope agenda.

“President Tinubu is committed to ensuring a quickest and safest resettlement of the disability community so that they can have a decent livelihood” he said.
Isa disclosed that the interest of PWDs would be protected in the housing policy of the federal government.
NAN reports that the presidential aide presented cash donations to the victims of the fire outbreak.
Earlier, Mrs Esther Akwu, who spoke on behalf of the victims, commended the President and the officials for the visit and kind gesture.
Akwu said, the community is in dire need of basic infrastructure especially primary healthcare, school and toilet facilities.
She said the community had been neglected for so long and called on the President and other stakeholders to consider their plight.
NAN reports the fire incidence occurred on February 3 in the colony and there was no life lost.
Isa was accompanied on the visit by Delu Yakubu, Special Assistant to the suspended Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Betta Edu. The delegation was received by the community leader, Mr Sulaiman Katsina (NAN).
