FORTY-THREE families of deceased police officers in Benue State have received financial support from the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mr Kayode Egbetokun.
Presenting the cheques, totaling 45.9 million naira, to the beneficiaries on behalf of the IGP at the police state command, Makurdi on Thursday, State Commissioner of Police, Mr Hassan Steve Yabanet, said the gesture was aimed at easing the burden on families within the first one year of losing their loved ones.

Yabanet urged the beneficiaries to invest wisely, ensuring self-reliance while awaiting additional benefits.
Benue State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Superintendent of Police (SP) Sewuese Anene, in a statement said the benefiting families were grateful and praised IGP Egbetokun for his timely support.

Anene described the financial support as a welcome change from past experiences.
According to her, the families expressed their appreciation and prayed for the IGP’s continued advocacy for police officers’ rights.
