A PARENT, Yimam Orkwar, has accused the Admiralty University of Nigeria (ADUN), Ibusa, Delta State, of attempting to prevent his daughter, Miss Tersen Princess Orkwar, from graduating despite allegedly completing all academic requirements.

        Archbishop Orkwar

Speaking to journalists in Makurdi on Wednesday, Orkwar, an Archbishop and General Overseer of All Nations Evangelism Ministry, Makurdi, said his daughter, a final-year student of International Relations, was expecting her second-semester results for the 2024/2025 session when she was suddenly informed that she allegedly failed and carried over nine 100-level courses.

Archbishop Orkwar who is also the National President, Christian Association of Clergies in Nigeria (CAC-Nig) said: “My daughter has passed all those courses since 2021/2022. The results were uploaded and released on the university’s online portal. She even downloaded them from the portal. So how can the same university now claim she failed courses she already passed three years ago? It is either negligence or incompetence.”

The nine courses listed against her are GST 101, GST 105, BUS 101, IRS 101, IRS 103, FRE 107, POL 101, IRS 102 and IRS 103.

Orkwar said attempts to reach the Head of Department, Dean of Faculty and the Vice Chancellor had failed, adding that several lecturers he contacted expressed shock over the development.

He said a senior lecturer, who he said pleaded anonymity, informed him that “the Senate had already approved the final-year results and she had a cumulative GPA of 4.72,” which places her in first-class category.

Orkwar further stated: “After Senate approval, I was told the Vice Chancellor set up a three-man committee to review Senate-approved results. I don’t know why. Two of the committee members are even on sabbatical from other institutions. This decision alone can delay my daughter’s graduation.”

He said the delay in releasing the final results might exclude her name from the convocation programme scheduled for November 29, 2025, adding that he had instructed his lawyers to take legal action if she is not cleared to graduate.

Archbishop Orkwar’s daughter, Tersen, has also written a letter of complaint to the Registrar, Dean and Head of Department, dated November 14, 2025. The letter reads:

“I wish to firmly state that I have completed all requirements for the award of the Bachelor of Science degree in International Relations.

I was surprised to receive information that I have carryovers in nine 100-level courses which I had duly registered for, taken, and for which the results were released on the university’s online portal.

I have downloaded and attached copies of all my results showing clearly that I passed the said courses.

I therefore appeal that this administrative error be corrected urgently so that my name can be included in the list of graduating students for the 2024/2025 academic session.”

In response to her letter, the Registrar in a memo signed by N. R. Odume, informed her that the Senate could not approve her graduation because she allegedly had nine outstanding 100-level courses and advising her to re-register for them.

When contacted for clarification, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Christopher Abakole Ndubisi, initially told this reporter that he could not hear the call clearly. A detailed WhatsApp message and SMS were later sent to him which he did not respond to. But when reached again on Thursday, November 20, 2025, he said: “Write whatever you want. Please don’t contact me again.”

As the November 29 convocation date approaches, the university has not issued any official explanation, leaving the student’s graduation status uncertain.
