DR AKINWUMI Adesina, outgoing president of the African Department Bank (AfDB), has mourned the passing of Kabiyesi Ọba Sikiru Kayọde Adetọna the Awùjalẹ̀ of Ijẹbu Kingdom.
On his verified X handle, Dr Adesina stated: “I am deeply saddened by the passing of Kabiyesi Ọba Sikiru Kayọde Adetọna the Awùjalẹ̀ of the Ijẹbu Kingdom”.
Adesina went further to say that Oba Adetona was not only one of the respected traditional rulers in Nigeria, but also one of the longest serving traditional rulers. “Enthroned on April 2, 1960, he was one of the longest serving and most respected traditional rulers in Nigeria.”
Adesina further noted that “Kabiyesi Adetọna ruled with strong commitment, remarkable dedication and impressive service, ensuring peace, unity, stability and progress across Ijebuland and Ogun State.”
The statement ended by stressing that Oba Adetona’s passing remains a huge loss to the people of Ijebu, in Ogun State and Nigeria in general.
