THE CHAIRMAN, Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Mr Bemdoo Ugber, Benue Council, has appealed to the state government to provide a piece of land to the Planned Parenthood Federation of Nigeria (PPFN) to establish a clinic.
Ugber, who made the appeal in Makurdi when he received the volunteer chairperson of PPFN, said the health facility would greatly serve Benue people.
The chairman decried the absence of PPFN in Benue due to lack of land to establish a clinic.
According to him, the absence of facility deprived the state of several opportunities.
He pointed out that the organisation had been offering free medical services to other parts of the country.
Ugber commended PPFN efforts to humanity, particularly in the area of health, and sued for partnership with the union.
He assured the organisation of journalists support to enable them to succeed.
Earlier, Mrs Sarah Ingbian, Benue Volunteer Chairperson for PPFN, said that the organisation was one of the leading healthcare providers that advocate sexual reproductive health and rights in Nigeria.
Ingbian stated that the organisation encourages people to be healthy and utilise the services of PPFN within their localities and to mobilise people to join the volunteer group.

“Reproductive health service is for everybody: children, adults, and the aged,” Ingbian said.
She solicited the support of NUJ in areas of advocacy to enable them to secure a plot of land to build a clinic.
The volunteer chairperson said that the clinic would be for deliveries and screening for cervical, breast, and prostate cancer, among other health-related issues. (NAN)
