THE BENUE State Police Command has told residents of Makurdi, Benue State capital, not to panic when they hear bang sounds at midnight on December 31, 2023 as the police are going to display government-sponsored fireworks.
Benue State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Superintendent of Police (SP) Sewuese Anene, in a statement on Thursday, said the State Commissioner of Police, Benue State Command, Mr George Chuku, is informing the general public that “there will be government-sponsored fireworks display on 31st December, 2023 into 1st January, 2024 at the roundabout beside Dexters Eatery, low level, Makurdi.
This is part of the activities put in place for the New Year celebration.”

She added that “the CP has ordered the deployment of police officers within the area during the display and urge the good people of Benue state to go about their duties without fear or panic as the environment will be secured and under control.”
