“That I may know Him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death” (Philippians 3:10).
I decree and declare that the hunger, desire and passion to know God more intimately, personally & passionately shall fall upon you, throughout this month and beyond, in Jesus name, Amen!
Introduction:
THE EARNEST and deepest desire of Apostle Paul, after all his accomplishments and achievements, was expressing his deepest longings to know more of God. After writing two third of the New Testaments, there was still such a passionate desire in his heart to know more of God.
To know Him is to know His ways, power, personalities and attributes. To know Him is to know His strength, almightiness and partakes in His glory. Those who know their God shall be strong, and do exploits (Daniel 11:32). They are not easily swayed or tossed up and down by the circumstances of life.
David was one of God’s servants who also was desperate to know God despite all his achievements. His hunger and passion for God was chronicled in Psalm 42:1-2 and Psalm 119:131)
“As the hart pant after the water brooks, so panteth my soul after thee, O God.
My soul thirsteth for God, for the living God: When shall I come and appear before God? (Psalm 42:1-2)”
“I opened my mouth, and panted: for I longed for thy commandments (Psalm 119:131)”
Let there be a desperation in your heart, to know God personally for yourself, on a daily and consistent basis. Don’t allow the challenges of life to deter your commitment to knowing Him. Let there be a longing in your heart like the Psalmist, that the pleasures and accomplishments of this World couldn’t stop him from the pursuit of God. Remain resilient and be focused in your quest to knowing God, like Enoch, who walked with God: and he was not; for God took him (Genesis 5:24).
May this be your testimony that you walk with God throughout your life time and your impact shall span time and eternity, in Jesus Name, Amen.
The question then is: How do I know God?
- Through His Word (John 1:1-5; 2Timothy 2:15; Psalm 103:7).
The nature, character and the attributes of God are revealed through His Word. God and His Word are one. The ways, acts of God and His almightiness are revealed through His Word. The Word of God is your manual for living. It helps you to navigate through life as a believer. It brings form, comeliness and order into your life.
What will the knowledge of God’s word do for you?
(a). The impartation of strength: The knowledge of God’s Word impacts you with strength to fulfill destiny (Numbers 23:22; Daniel 11:32; 2Sam 22:33, 40);
(b). Your boldness, audacity and authority increase: The knowledge of God makes you to become fearless and confront the challenges of life and gates of hell without fear and intimidation (Proverbs 28:1; Acts 4:13, 31; Genesis 34:25);
(c). It infuses you with power to deal with the forces of darkness (Luke 10:19);
(d). The knowledge of His Word helps you not to walk in the counsel of the ungodly nor stand in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful (Psalm 1:1);
(e). Your chambers are filled with all precious and pleasant riches (Proverbs 24:4). Abundance becomes your portion on the platform of the Word of God. The knowledge of the Word guarantees supernatural supplies. You live in the realm of God as heaven on earth!
(f). The Word of God brings instruction (Psalm 119:105; Deuteronomy 32:10-14; Job 33:14-18). Instruction will preserve you. It delivers you from error and foolishness (Proverbs 10:17; 19:27); and
(g). You are planted (established) by the rivers of water and bringeth forth fruit in his season. You are not barren spirituality and physically (Psalm 1:3). You bear fruits of righteousness.
- By yielding to the Holy Spirit (John 16:13; 1Corinthians 2:16; Micah 3:8):
The Holy Spirit is a person. When we receive the Holy Spirit, we receive Him, the third person of the Godhead. The Holy Spirit comes to dwell in you. But as a believer, you must yield to his prompting. When there is a nudge by the Holy Spirit for you to pray, or go and witness to somebody, you must yield to his leading. The Holy Spirit can be grieved through our lifestyles (Ephesians 4:30).
What will yielding to the Holy Spirit do for you?
(a). The Holy Spirit reveals to us the very mind of Christ (1Corinthians 2:16). Paul said “Let this mind be in you that was also in Christ Jesus (Philippians 2:5)”. The mind of Christ is a productive mind. It’s a mind that is full of power and initiative. Our minds are irrigated by the power of the Holy Spirit (Micah 3:8);
(b). The Holy Spirit helps us to pray in tongues. Speaking in tongues is a flowing stream that should never dry up, and that will enrich one’s life spiritually (1Corinthians 14:14);
(c). It helps you to intercede and pray according to the will of God (Romans 7:26-28);
(d). It is a means of spiritual edification or building up (1Corinthians 14:4; Jude 1:20). Your life and destiny is nourished; and
(e). Yielding your tongue to the Holy Spirit to speak with other tongues is a big step forward, being able to fully yield all your members to God; for if you can yield your tongue, you can yield any member of your body to God (James 3:8).
Prayers:
* Pray for an unquenchable hunger and passion to know God.
* Pray against every form of distraction and pleasure of this World that will deter you from pursuing God.
* Pray that God shall deliver you from every wrong association and assignment, that will take or choke the place of God in your life.
* Ask God for the grace to walk with Him to the end, like Enoch did (Genesis 5:22, 24).
Prophesies:
– I decree and declare that the grace to pursue after God be released upon your life, throughout this Month and beyond, in Jesus Name, Amen!
– I decree and declare your preservation throughout these Ember Months and beyond that no evil shall come near your dwellings, in Jesus Name, Amen!
– I decree and declare that your portion, allocation and inheritances be released unto you this Month, in Jesus Name, Amen!
Happy New Month!
