AN IKEJA Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence Court on Tuesday sentenced the Medical Director of Optical Cancer Care Foundation, Dr Olufemi Olaleye, to double life imprisonment for defiling 16-year-old wife’s niece.
The Honourable Justice Rahman Oshodi held that the prosecution proved the two-count of defilement and sexual assault by penetration against Olaleye.
Justice Oshodi said that the evidence adduced before the court against the defendant was compelling and proved beyond reasonable doubts.
According to him, the confessional statement of the defendant, which he made before his lawyer, Olalekan Buruji, and the DPO of Anthony Police Station that he regretted his act proved that he committed the offences.

The judge said that the oral statement, which the defendant denied, had the NBA seal of Buruji on it and his denial did not hold water.
The judge also held that the evidence of the victim and that of the doctor who examined her were consistent. He further noted that Dr Olaleye’s confessional statement and exchange of WhatsApp and email messages with his wife were enough evidence against him.
The court also held that the statement and undertaking written and signed by the defendant alongside his lawyer, Olalekan Buruji with his NBA seal at Anthony Police Station, showed he raped the victim and forced her to suck his manhood.
Oshodi found him guilty of the offence of defilement and sexual penetration of a minor.

The judge held that the prosecution was able to prove its case beyond reasonable doubt and that all the evidence before the court corroborated that of the victim.
“You are a dangerous offender and you must be ashamed,” Justice Oshodi held.
