THE BENUE State Coordinator, Legal Aid Council, Makurdi, Barr. (Mrs) Malami Jijingi, has appealed to the Benue State Government and public-spirited individuals to renovate dilapidated structures at the Benue State Rehabilitation Center, Apir in order to give it a facelift.
Jijingi made the appeal Wednesday when she represented the Legal Aid Council and Tido Fish Farm to celebrate Governor Hyacinth Alia’s 58th birthday anniversary with some disabled persons at the Centre as directed by the governor that people who wanted to celebrate his birthday should visit such centres to make donations to the vulnerable.
The coordinator commended Governor Alia for dedicating his birthday celebration to vulnerable groups especially the disabled.

The Benue State Rehabilitation Centre located at Apir, a suburb of Makurdi, was built in 2002 to cater for people living with disabilities (PWD) as well as the destitute in the society.
The Centre is also an academic premises housing over 60 special-need children excluding staff of varied categories, most of who are also physically challenged and teaches different classes of primary school level.
The infrastructural facilities which serve as hostels for inmates, classrooms, vocational training rooms and administrative offices are in deplorable condition following its neglect by past successive governments in the state over the years.
