‎RENOWNED diplomat, lawyer, and philanthropist, Barrister Kashim Musa Tumsah, has donated N1.5 million and brand-new laptops to three students of Nigerian Tulip International Colleges (NTIC), Mamudo, Potiskum LGA of Yobe State.

The students distinguished themselves at the global TeenEagle competition held at the University of Surrey in the United Kingdom.

In addition, cash tokens were presented to the principal, Habibullah Jogi, English teacher Adamu Mukhtar, and Olympiad coach Mohammed Umar, in recognition of their efforts and contributions.

‎The donation was announced on Monday at NTIC, where Tumsah was represented by Kaka Ahmad Abubakar, a renowned retired educationist and former principal at Government Girls Colleges in Yobe. Her long service in the education sector and her passion for guiding young people gave special weight to her presence at the event. She was accompanied by Rifkatu Usman, a retired director with the Ministry of Women Affairs, Yobe State, and Hajiya Fatima, a retired deputy controller with the Nigeria Immigration Service.

‎According to Abubakar, the gesture reflects Barrister Tumsah’s longstanding commitment to supporting young people in education, innovation, and global competitiveness.

‎“Barrister Tumsah made this donation not only to celebrate the students’ outstanding success on the world stage but also to encourage them and others to aim higher,” Abubakar said. “He believes that with the right encouragement, Nigerian students can stand shoulder to shoulder with their counterparts anywhere in the world.”

‎The Principal of NTIC Mamudo, Mr. Habibullah Jogi, commended Tumsah for the intervention, describing it as a morale booster for the school community and a reflection of his passion for human capital development.

‎“We are very grateful to Barrister Tumsah for remembering these students at this critical moment,” Jogi said. “Such gestures reinforce the importance of hard work, commitment, and academic excellence. They also show the students that society recognizes and appreciates their achievements.”

‎The beneficiaries of the donation, 17-year-old Nafisa Abdullahi Aminu, 15-year-old Rukayya Muhammad Fema, and Hadiza Kashim Kalli, expressed heartfelt gratitude to the philanthropist.

‎Speaking on behalf of the group, Nafisa said the recognition had further inspired them to continue working hard in their academic pursuits.

‎“We sincerely thank Barrister Tumsah for this generous support,” Nafisa said. “It means so much to us, and it gives us the courage to keep doing more and making Nigeria proud.”

‎‎At the competition, Nafisa was named Overall Best in English Language Skills, while Rukayya emerged as Overall Best in Debate. Hadiza was honored with the Outstanding Talent Award (Gold Medal).

‎‎The three students represented NTIC Yobe at the TeenEagle International Competition, an annual event that brings together some of the brightest young minds from across the globe to test their skills in English language, creativity, and problem-solving.

‎‎This year’s edition was held from July 27 to August 3 at the University of Surrey, United Kingdom, and featured over 900 students from 46 countries. Despite the stiff competition, the Nigerian students emerged among the shining stars of the event, drawing applause not only from their school and state but from across the country.

‎‎Observers said the students’ victory highlights the rising profile of NTIC institutions in Nigeria, which have consistently produced participants who excel locally and internationally in science, technology, and literary competitions.

‎‎English teacher at NTIC Mamudo, Adamu Alhaji Mukhtar, also praised the donation, stressing that it would serve as motivation for other students.

‎‎“For the young winners, this recognition not only provides financial relief and access to digital tools but also places them on a higher pedestal as role models for their peers in Yobe and beyond,” Mukhtar said.

‎‎Barrister Tumsah, a proud son of Yobe State, has earned a reputation for using his resources and influence to uplift educational standards in the region.
