THE COLLEGE of Veterinary Medicine Alumni Association, Joseph Sarwuan Tarka University, Makurdi (COVMAA-JOSTUM), has inaugurated its pioneer Executive Council, marking a major milestone in the development of the College’s alumni community.

The inauguration took place at the Office of the Dean, College of Veterinary Medicine, JOSTUM, during a meeting between the Interim Executive Council and the Dean, Professor J. A. Bosha.

Members of the council took the Oath of Office, administered by I. R. Adekwagh, Esq., and received certificates for their respective positions.

The pioneer council is led by Dr. Umayange Aondowase as President, with Dr. Tion Matthew Terzungwe as Vice President and Dr. Ordorough Timothy Terngu as Secretary.

Other members are Dr. Atuna Simone Ter (Assistant Secretary), Dr. Apple Deborah Agada (Financial Secretary), Dr. Ka’ase Kadoon (Treasurer), Dr. Mamfe Levi M. (Publicity Secretary), Dr. Saater Kumaga (Welfare Secretary), and Dr. Aleji Anasthasia (Social/Event Secretary).

Professor Bosha commended the alumni for the initiative and urged them to remain united and serve as good ambassadors of the College.

He also pledged his support for the association and a cordial relationship between the College and COVMAA-JOSTUM.

In his inaugural address, Dr. Umayange said the association would pursue pragmatic and inclusive leadership focused on alumni engagement, student mentorship, infrastructure and professional development, global partnerships, and member welfare.

He called on alumni across all graduation sets to unite in contributing their expertise, experience and resources to the advancement of the College, the veterinary profession and the nation.

The inauguration opens a new chapter in College-alumni relations, with COVMAA-JOSTUM positioning itself as a platform to “give back, build, and lift others as we rise.”
