THE Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Wednesday in Makurdi, Benue State capital, issued certificates of return to Benue State governor-elect, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia, and the 36 Benue State House of Assembly members-elect.
INEC commissioner, Festus Okoye, presented the certificates to the governor-elect, Fr. Alia, and his deputy, Sam Ode, while the commission’s resident electoral commissioner in the state, Prof. Sam Egwu, presented the certificates of return to House of Assembly members-elect.
INEC announced that the House of Assembly members-elect not present at the ceremony should go to the commission’s headquarters in Abuja to collect theirs.
Responding, Governor-elect Alia expressed appreciation to Benue people for trusting him with the mandate as number one citizen of the state and assured them of adequate democratic dividends.
