THE INDEPENDENT National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced the resumption of the nationwide Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) for its third and final phase, scheduled to run from Monday, 11th May 2026, to Friday, 10th July 2026.

According to a press release issued by the Commission’s Chairman of Information and Voter Education Committee, Mohammed Kudu Haruna, the upcoming phase follows the suspension of the second phase on 17th April 2026.

That suspension, the Commission explained, was necessary to allow for a clean-up of the voter register after it was published for claims and objections by registrants.

The final phase is designed to accommodate citizens who have recently turned 18 years old, as well as those who were unable to register during earlier phases. INEC is urging all eligible Nigerians to take advantage of this window to complete their registration.

In addition to new registrations, the Commission noted that registered voters seeking to transfer their registration to another polling unit, replace lost or damaged Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), or correct errors in their biodata may do so through the dedicated online portal at https://cvr.inecnigeria.org.  Alternatively, voters may visit INEC’s State and Local Government Area offices nationwide for assistance.

Following the close of registration, INEC will display the updated Register of Voters for claims and objections from Thursday, 23rd July to Wednesday, 29th July 2026.

The Commission described this statutory exercise as a vital opportunity for citizens to scrutinise the register, helping to ensure its accuracy, completeness, and credibility.

INEC reassured Nigerians that all necessary arrangements have been finalised for the smooth conduct of the exercise.

The Commission appealed to eligible citizens to present themselves for registration, describing participation as essential to strengthening the nation’s electoral process.

For further information, the public is encouraged to visit the official INEC website at www.inecnigeria.org.
