FORMER Benue Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Mr Emmanuel Adesina, has assumed duty as the 44th Commissioner of Police in charge of the state.
Mr. Adesina, who served as the Command’s PPRO in 1997 took over from Mr. George Chuku, the immediate past Commissioner.
According to a statement by the State’s PPRO, Superintendent of Police (SP) Catherine Anene, the new Police Commissioner also served the Command as Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) in charge of Operations and Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), also in charge of Operations.
The PPRO in the statement noted that Mr Adesina “was promoted to the rank of Commissioner of Police on January 31, 2024 and posted to Benue State as the 44th Commissioner of Police, Benue State Command.

“The detribalised and dutiful police officer has pledged his commitment to use his wealth of experience to fight crime and ensure safety of lives and property in the state.
“He also called on the good people of Benue state to support the police with useful and timely information.”
Adesina, who hails from Boluwaduro LGA of Osun State holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Sociology from the University of Lagos, Akoka, Lagos and a Master’s degree in criminology from the University of Ibadan and was enlisted into the Nigeria Police Academy as a cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police on May 18, 1992.
