GOVERNOR Hyacinth Alia of Benue State on Tuesday declared two weeks of holidays for public workers in the state to celebrate Christmas and New Year.
The holidays start from December 24, 2024 to January 6, 2025.
This decision, announced Tuesday at the Government House, Makurdi, is aimed at supporting the well-being of Benue workers, allowing them to enjoy the season with their loved ones and attend to agricultural endeavors.
To ensure essential services to continue uninterrupted, Governor Alia directed agencies such as financial institutions, security agencies, hospitals, water board, fire service, telecommunication companies, electricity and energy providers, amongst others, to make internal arrangements for their staff. This, according to him, will enable them to provide necessary services to the people during the holiday period.
The governor extended greetings to citizens of Benue State, acknowledging Christmas as a time for reflection, thanksgiving, and family bonding.
He recognised the efforts of the state’s workers in driving the collective agenda for development and encouraged the people to imbibe the spirit of unity, love, and peace during the celebrations.
As the state celebrates Christmas and anticipates a prosperous new year, Alia urged the people to remain steadfast in their collective efforts to build a better and greater Benue State. He wished all the people of Benue a Merry Christmas and a prosperous new year ahead.
