GOVERNOR Hyacinth Alia has handed over 600 motorcycles and 100 Toyota Hilux vans to security agencies in the state to enhance their operations.
The governor, who commissioned the vehicles at the IBB Square in Makurdi, reiterated his administration’s commitment to equipping security operatives for effective surveillance, especially in rural areas.
At the official handover ceremony last Friday at IBB Square, Makurdi, Governor Alia urged security personnel to utilise the newly provided vehicles and motorcycles to ensure peace and safety in all communities, particularly those affected by criminal activities.
He assured the agencies of continued support from the state government to safeguard lives and property.

Receiving the fleet on behalf of the security agencies, the Benue State Commissioner of Police, Steve Yabanet, expressed gratitude to the governor, highlighting that this was the first time such a substantial number of vehicles had been provided by the state government.
He noted that the gesture would significantly boost efforts to combat crime in Benue.
The commissioner further assured that the vehicles and motorcycles would be distributed to all security formations across the state to maximise their impact.
