- Sends High-Powered Delegation To Empathise With Armed Robbery Victims
GOVERNOR Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State on Tuesday paid unscheduled visit to the ongoing reconstruction of the Damaturu-Kalalawa dual carriage highway.
During the visit, Governor Buni commended the contractor for the renewed speed and dedication to complete the project, a press statement signed by Mamman Mohammed, Director General (DG), Press and Media Affairs, to the Governor, and made made available to National Record, disclosed.
Governor Buni assured the contractor of his government’s commitment to ensure that the road is completed soon.
Commiserates with Armed Robbery Victims
Meanwhile the governor on Tuesday dispatched high-powered delegation to commiserate with the families and victims of armed robbery in Ngalda, Fika LGA of the state.
The government delegation was led by the Speaker of the Yobe State House Assembly, Hon. Ciroma Buba Mashio, along with other top government functionaries and security officers.
Governor Buni commiserated with the families of persons killed, and sympathized with those who sustained injuries, as well as the entire Ngalda community.
According to Mohammed, the DG, Press and Media Affairs, Governor Buni has given the directive for immediate support to the affected persons to provide succour to the families of the deceased and those who sustained injuries.
The governor also directed the security agencies to identify and block all loose ends to check criminality in the area and across the state.
“You should do a thorough investigation, check the loopholes to guard against future occurrence, just as you don’t spare those involved,” the statement quoted Governor Buni to have directed security agencies.
Ngalda Town has a large livestock market that operates weekly on Mondays.
The suspected armed robbers reportedly struck at around 9.00p.m after the close of the market on Monday.
Some people were reported to have been killed, while others sustained injuries are and now receiving treatment at the General Hospital Fika.
