GOVERNOR Muhammad Badaru of Jigawa State on Wednesday sacked the Executive Secretary of the Jigawa State and Local Government Contributory Pension Scheme Board, Alhaji Hashimu Fagam.
The governor also approved the appointment of Alhaji Kamilu Musa as the acting Executive Secretary of the board.
Although the governor did not give any reason for the removal of Alhaji Fagam, some sources in the government confided in National Record that it was related to internal politics with the ruling party in the state.
When contacted, Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Print Media, Ahmad Muhammad Danyaro, said he was out of the state. He said he is aware that Alhaji Fagam has been removed and that a replacement has been announced in acting capacity, he however said he is not aware of any reasons that must have made the Executive Secretary’s removal compelling.
Our source stated that Alhaji Fagam and the federal lawmaker representing Gwaram, Shittu Galambi at the House of Representatives, allegedly sponsored a protest against the governor’s choice of APC leaders in some local government areas.
Until his appointment, Alhaji Musa was the Deputy Director, Accounts at the pension board.
The statement announcing the dismissal and appointment, signed on behalf of the governor by the State Head of the Civil Service, Alhaji Hussaini Kila, reads in part: “The appointment of the new Executive Secretary is purely on merit, competency and personal integrity.”
