THE CHIEF Press Secretary (CPS) to the Governor of Benue State, Tersoo Kula, has refuted media reports claiming that Governor Hyacinth Alia plans to leave the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Kula described the reports as false and a product of sensational journalism.
In a statement issued on Sunday, Kula dismissed a Sahara Reporters article alleging that Governor Alia intended to defect from the APC due to an internal crisis within the party’s Benue State chapter.
The CPS affirmed that the governor remains a dedicated member of the APC and is actively working to strengthen the party in the state.
“At a time when opposition governors are joining the APC in recognition of the party’s policies and the commendable performance of the Tinubu-led administration, it is baseless to suggest that Governor Alia would consider leaving,” Kula stated.
He highlighted the governor’s participation in recent APC activities, including the endorsement of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the party’s sole candidate for the 2027 general elections.
Kula also denied claims of a leadership crisis within the Benue APC, stating that the party, under Hon. Benjamin Omale, maintains a strong relationship with Governor Alia and operates effectively at both state and national levels.
“It is regrettable that a media outlet would publish unfounded claims questioning the Governor’s attendance at an event that was well-documented and attended by his peers,” he added.
The CPS urged the public to disregard the report and rely on credible news sources.
“Governor Alia has no intention of leaving the APC, particularly as Benue State continues to benefit from the party and the Tinubu administration,” Kula emphasized.
