GOVERNOR Hyacinth Alia on Tuesday approved the appointment of Prof. Timothy Alabar as the new Vice Chancellor (VC) of Rev. Fr. Moses Orshio Adasu University, Makurdi (MOAUM).
The Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Mr Tersoo Kula, who announced the appointment in a statement in Makurdi, said that the appointment takes immediate effect.
Kula said that the visitor to the varsity approved the appointment after all the due processes were completed by the governing board and other relevant authorities.
He said that the governor, who congratulated the new vice chancellor, urged him to provide visionary, ethical, and inclusive leadership to the institution.
According to him, Alia urged the VC to provide advanced academic excellence, foster cutting-edge research, and nurture character as well as competence.
“You must uphold the autonomy and integrity of the university, promote a culture of merit, innovation, and accountability, and ensure prudent stewardship of human and material resources,” he said.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Prof Alabar, who was, until his appointment, Dean, Postgraduate School at MOAUM, hails from Ukum LGA of the State.
The professor of Marketing started his academic career with MOAUM in 1999 and has previously held different positions of responsibility, including Dean, Faculty of Administration and Management and acting vice-chancellor. (NAN)
