THE FORUM of States Chairmen of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has recognised the leadership of Chief Benjamin Omale as Chairman of the Benue APC Caretaker Committee.
The forum, composed of chairmen of the party from the 36 states of the federation and the FCT, indicated its recognition by admitting Omale into their ranks.
The recognition, said to have followed a formal presentation by the National Chairman of the APC, Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, who affirmed Omale as the only recognised APC Chairman in Benue State.
It could be recalled that prior to the recognition, there has been a protracted leadership tussle in the state chapter of the party.
According to Ganduje, the National Secretariat’s decision to recognise Omale leadership is in line with Article 13.3(B) of the APC Constitution and that the party could not afford to revisit the matter.
Celebrations in Benue
Omale’s recognition in Abuja sparked celebrations in Benue with APC women, Gubernatorial Liaison Officers (GLO), and youth leaders gathering at the party’s secretariat in Makurdi to welcome him into office.
The event, led by Hon. Mrs. Helen Agaigbe, Hon. Philip Achua, and Hon. Terver Gbenda was marked by jubilation and solidarity.
Addressing the enthusiastic crowd, Omale credited his success to Governor Hyacinth Alia, expressing deep gratitude for the unwavering support of party members. He lauded the governor’s leadership and reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening the APC in Benue.
“This victory is not mine alone; it belongs to everyone who believes in our party’s vision and future. With unity and resilience, we will work towards progress, uphold our responsibilities, and ensure governance remains transparent and development-focused,” Omale declared.
He also extended appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the National Working Committee, and the party’s leadership for their role in securing his victory.
Stressing the need for collective action, Omale urged members to remain steadfast in their dedication to the party’s mission.
“As we look ahead to 2027, we must focus on strengthening the party, fostering development, and preparing for electoral success. With God’s grace, we will build a stronger APC and a better Benue,” he stressed.
