THE FEDERAL Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has warned owners of event centres, hotels and other public buildings in the FCT to stop granting usage access to illegal organisations.
The FCT Administration gave the warning in a statement signed by Mr Lere Olayinka, Senior Special Assistant to the FCT Minister on Public Communications and Social Media in Abuja on Friday.
The administration explained that the allocations of land in the FCT were strictly for lawful activities, adding that usage of event centres, hotels and other public buildings would now be closely monitored.
This, according to the FCTA, would ensure the security of lives and properties in the territory and sustain the efforts of security agencies.
It warned that going forward, title documents of any event centre, hotel or public building that was used for the gathering of illegal organisations would be revoked.
“This is aimed at ensuring that they are not used by illegal organisations for gatherings capable of disrupting the peace of the nation’s capital.
“Owners of these facilities are, therefore, urged to take cognisance of the legality of organisations seeking to use their facilities and the purpose before letting them out,” it said.
The administration further advised the affected persons and individuals to grant access only to the leadership of political parties recognised by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and keep proper records of the transactions.
“Failure to comply with this directive will result in revocation of the title documents of such properties,” it said. (NAN)
