BENUE state governor, Rev. Fr Hyacinth Alia, has directed the immediate construction of drainages at the Permanent Orientation Camp of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), located in Wannune, Tarka LGA of Benue State.
The construction is meant to address the perennial challenge of erosion affecting the camp.
According to the Principal Special Assistant (PSA) to Governor Alia on Media and Content Creation, Isaac Uzaan, the governor, who made the pronouncement on Tuesday when he attended the closing ceremony of the 2024 Batch A Stream II Orientation Course at the orientation camp, assigned Architect Samuel Agule to start the project immediately.
The governor also promised to sustain the payment of N15,000 to all corps members and N100,000 to corps members who are medical doctors across the state.
He commended the corps members for their demonstration of good conduct and high level of commitment, saluting their ability to integrate freely among themselves and keeping aside the diversities of their backgrounds.

Alia advised the corps members to remain diligent in carrying out all assignments given to them, assuring them that adequate measures have been put in place to ensure their security and safety in the state.
He applauded the NYSC Benue State Coordinator, Mr. Abe Dankaro Ashumate, his Management Team, and other camp officials for their exemplary leadership and care towards corps members.
Earlier, Mr Ashumate, who described Alia as the living and unwavering hope of Benue people, reminded the governor of the Bill of Engineering Measurement and Evaluation (BEME) prepared by corps members for the construction of drainages on the camp and appealed to him to consider it.
Dankaro sought more cooperation from corps’ employing institutions in Benue State towards the continuous commitment to the NYSC national policy in dealing with corps members, especially regarding the days reserved for Community Development Service.
