A 38-YEAR-OLD driver, Gbadaisi Olusegun, on Wednesday appeared before a Badagry Chief Magistrates’ Court for alleged manslaughter.
Olusegun, whose address was not provided, is facing a two-court charge of manslaughter and dangerous driving, to which he pleaded not guilty.
The Prosecutor, ASP Clément Okuoimose, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on September 28 at 8.30.p.m. at Mosafejo bus stop Badagry Expressway, Lagos.
Okuoimose said the defendant drove in a reckless manner and knocked down a pedestrian, Mr Samuel Lolo, who died on the spot.
“The driver drove dangerously on the public highway, which led to the death of Lolo,” he said.
He said the offences contravened Sections 20 and 15 of the Road Traffic Law of Lagos State, 2021.
The Chief Magistrate, Mr A. J. Aina, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N300,000 with two sureties in like sum and adjourned the case until November 11, 2024 for mention. (NAN)
