A 30-YEAR-OLD man, Hammed Oyeleke, on Wednesday appeared before an Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan, for allegedly digging up a dead woman’s grave to remove her skull.

Oyeleke, whose address was not provided, is standing trial on charges bordering on indignity to a dead woman’s body.

He, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The prosecutor, ASP Musbau Lawal, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on Dec. 24, at about 1.00 a.m. at Amuloko, in Ibadan.

He alleged that the defendant improperly interfered and offered indignity to the corpse of one Mrs Anifat Moshood.

Lawal alleged that the defendant dug the deceased’s grave to exhume her body and remove her skull.

He said that the offence contravenes the provisions of Section 242(1)(b) of the Criminal Law of Oyo State, 2000.

The Magistrate, Mr Olaolu Olanipekun, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N200,000 with one surety in like sum.

He adjourned the case until Feb. 4, for hearing. (NAN)
