… Says You Can’t Remain Analogue In Digital World
THE PRESIDENT of Digital Bridge Institute (DBI), David Daser, has challenged Nigerian students to acquire digital skills, emphasising that “nobody can remain analogue in a digital world”.
Daser made this statement when students from Plateau State Polytechnic, Barkin Ladi, visited DBI headquarters in Abuja.
The students were on excursion to DBI and other notable institutions located in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
Representing Daser, Viola Askia-Usoro, Head of Special Duties, DBI, stressed the importance of digital skills, including Prompt Engineering, saying, “If you’re learning office management without ICT, you haven’t started.”
She advised students to leverage emerging technologies to remain relevant.
She said: “Nobody can remain analogue in a digital world, if you are learning office management and you are not actively learning how ICT will impact office process, you have not started.
“With emerging technology and ICT, which can do most of the jobs a thousand staff can do in minute, you must be able to use all these emerging technologies for your office management to be impactful, otherwise, you find yourselves left behind.”
The DBI, according to her is the foremost ICT capacity building institute in Nigeria, set up by the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) to trained manpower required for the telecom industry when private operators were licensed between 2003 and 2004.
She explained that the institute has since extended its mandate to all areas of ICT capacity building.
She emphasized that with the new concept of convergence, telecom cannot be differentiated from ICT.
Also speaking, DBI Head of Corporate Services, Ngozi Nwoche, encouraged students to pursue certification exams, develop soft skills, and specialize in ICT fields.
The visiting delegation leader, Dr. Silas Titus, congratulated Daser on his well-deserved appointment and expressed the belief that his leadership will advance DBI’s mission.
He said the students were in DBI to see and learn more about the institute, especially in the specialized area of ICT, outside their school environment.
Dr. Titus pointed out that the experience will help their students in their academics and give them different perspective to their usual day to day learning in the campus.
