A CHIEF Magistrates’ Court in Ikeja, on Tuesday, remanded one Chidi Esekwe, 43, in the Kirikiri Correctional Centre for allegedly defiling his lover’s four-year-old daughter.

The Chief Magistrate, Mr L. A. Owolabi, did not take Esekwe’s plea. He instead ordered the accused to be remanded in Kirikiri Correctional Centre until Nov. 19, 2025, pending legal advice from the Director of Public Prosecutions.

Esekwe, who is a stylist, and resides at 18, Ogundipe St. Alakuko, Lagos, was charged with defilement.

The prosecutor, ASP Adegoke Ademigbuji, told the court that the offence was committed in July, 2025 at 9, Unity Close, Ijaiye, Lagos.

Ademigbuji said the defendant and the victim’s mother were lovers and that the defendant used to come and spend the weekend with the victim’s mother.

The prosecutor said the victim, a four-year-old girl, told her aunty that the defendant had been touching her private part with his fingers.

The case was reported at the police station and the defendant was subsequently arrested by the police.

The offence according to the prosecutor contravened section 137 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015. (NAN)
