CONFUSION has trailed the latest federal appointments by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as he officially recognized both factional chairmen of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Benue State.
The two APC factional chairmen in the state include Comrade Austin Agada and Dr Benjamin Omale.
In a press release signed by the Special Adviser to the President on Information & Strategy, Mr Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu appointed Agada as the Board Chairman of the National Agricultural Seed Council, while Omale was named the Board Chairman of the National Orthopedic Hospital, Enugu.
The development has sparked controversy within the state chapter of the party as it effectively acknowledges the parallel leaderships that have divided the APC in the state.
Agada and Omale have both laid claim to the state chairmanship of the party, leading to prolonged internal disputes.
The recognition of both men in the President’s recent list of appointments has left party members and political analysts questioning the federal government’s stance on the APC crisis in Benue.
While some see it as an attempt at reconciliation, others argue that it deepens the confusion over the party’s authentic leadership in the state.
With these appointments, political watchers anticipate further reactions from APC stakeholders in Benue, as the controversy surrounding the party’s leadership remains unresolved.
