THE CENTRE for Information Technology and Development (CITAD) has expressed profound sorrow over the passing of Elder Abah Onah, father of Mr. Iduh L. Onah, Publisher of the National Record Newspaper.
In a formal letter of condolence dated 27th January, 2026, and signed by its Executive Director, YZ Ya’u, on behalf of the staff and management of CITAD, the organisation conveyed its heartfelt sympathy to the Onah family, describing the loss as “profound” as it acknowledged the irreplaceable role of a father.
The letter, which opened with the biblical verse: Matthew 5:4, “Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted,” paid tribute to the late Elder Abah Onah, recalling him as a man known for his kindness, devotion, and deep faith.
CITAD gave “thanks to God for a life well lived” and prayed for the eternal rest and peace for the deceased.
“May God grant you and your family the strength, comfort, and assurance of His unfailing love during this period of grief,” the organisation also prayed for the publisher, further invoking the “peace of Christ, which surpasses all understanding,” to guard the hearts and minds of the Onah family.
CITAD concluded with a prayer for divine comfort and support for the publisher and his family during this period of mourning.
Elder Onah, who hails from Ogene in Amejo Ward of Edumoga District, Okpokwu LGA of Benue State, North Central Nigeria, died in the early hours of Wednesday, January 21, 2026 at an estimated age of 83 years.
A brief statement by the family, signed by Barrister Theresa Onyikwu Abah, the deceased’s granddaughter, said the octogenarian passed on from diabetes-related illness.
A devout Catholic and member of the Catholic Men Organisation (CMO) as well as the Holy Family, Elder Onah was widowed in 2012 when he lost his lifelong partner, Mrs Onyikwu Theresa Onah.
A father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Pa Onah is survived by three sisters, his immediate senior, Mrs Martha Oyibo Onyocho, and two younger siblings – Mrs Ojowu Agbo and Ms Ochanya Catherine Onah – as well as nine children.
The statement noted that a detailed statement regarding the final burial rites would be announced in due time.
