FAITH HillProphetic Assembly, Makurdi has called on government at all levels to put security votes into proper use in order to secure lives and property.
This was part of the resolutions contained in a communiqué read by Bishop Timothy Kume on behalf of the church at the end of its inaugural synod meeting on Saturday.
Bishop Kume also called on the federal government to take necessary steps to reduce the price of petrol so as to cushion the effects of the high cost of the product which has in turn triggered high cost of living in the country.
He said the church has observed overtime the plight of Nigerians and urged the federal government to take deliberate steps towards reducing the existing gap in the exchange rate between Naira and dollar.
According to Bishop Kume, the church also noted high level of insecurity nationwide and asked federal and state governments to encourage the establishment of local vigilantes to promote community policing in other to tackle the menace as well as introduce a policy that would make traditional leaders to be held accountable for security issues in their communities
The communique further reads: “Federal government should take active measures to ensure food security for her populace and should be affordable for all.
“Government should make public detailed report of corrupt practices/activities of past regimes with the requisite punitive measures taken upon those found guilty to serve as a deterrence to others who may find themselves in positions.
“The 10th Senate Assembly should make public detailed report of findings of the committees set up to investigate the activities done to renovate refineries nationwide and the necessary punitive measures taken to serve as deterrence to others in the nearest future who may be saddled with similar responsibilities, so that there will no longer be dependence on foreign refineries.
“Both Federal and State Governments should encourage the establishment and smooth running of small-scale businesses through soft loans and grants to reduce unemployment in the Country. “Been [sic] blessed with over 90 percent of fertile lands for different purposes nationwide, both the State and Federal Government should encourage Agricultural Practices to increase the Nation’s GDP and assure food security and income for farmers”.
