A 54-YEAR-OLD businessman, Princely Amaechi, on Thursday appear in an Ejigbo Magistrates’ Court, Lagos, for allegedly obtaining the N300,000 under the pretext of procuring a European visa.
The defendant is standing trial on a three-count charge of conspiracy, obtaining under false pretences and stealing, preferred against him by the police.
The prosecutor, ASP Benedict Aigbokhan, told the court that the defendant and others at large committed the offences sometime in 2019, at No. 40, Emmanuel Okonne St., Baruwa, Ipaja, Lagos.
He said that the defendant fraudulently obtained N300, 000 from Ms Abigail Nwonyi, under the guise of procuring a European visa for her.

According to him, the defendant did not procure the visa but converted the said sum to his personal use.
Aigbokhan said that the offences contravened Sections 287, 314(1) and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos, 2015.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Magistrate Miss K. A. Ariyo, granted him bail in the sum of N100, 000 with two sureties in like sum.
Ariyo ordered that the sureties should be gainfully employed and should show evidence of tax payment to the Lagos State Government.
She adjourned the case until April 16, for mention. (NAN)
