A DEI-DEI Grade I Area Court in Abuja, on Wednesday, sentenced a 30-year-old businessman, Onyedikachi Ibe, to two months community service for receiving stolen property.

The judge, Saminu Suleiman, sentenced Ibe, who carries out is business at the Fruits Market, Zuba, after he pleaded guilty to the charge preferred against him.

Suleiman said that the prosecution had proved its case against the convict and his admission of guilt were grounds for his conviction.

He ordered the convict to perform the community service at the Zuba Police Station for the said period while warning him to desist from a life of crime and be of good behaviour.

Earlier, the Prosecution Counsel, Mr Babajide Olanipekun, told the court that one Kingsley Issac, arrested for stealing sandals, jeans trousers and a generator set on Feb.17 in Zuba, Abuja, implicated

Ibe in the crime.

Olanipekun said that Issac confessed that he sold the sandals to Ibe at the rate of N1,000.

The prosecution counsel added that during police investigations, the sandals were recovered from Ibe. The offence, he said, contravened the provisions of sections 317 of the Penal Code. (NAN)
