HEAVILY armed security personnel in mufti and uniform are alleged to have invaded the Paschal Bafyau Labour House, the headquarters of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) at about 8pm this evening.
An eyewitness who was at Labour House told National Record that the security personnel broke into and ransacked the Iva Valley bookshop carting away books.
According to the eyewitness who pleaded anonymity, some of the security personnel alleged that they invaded the bookshop, ransacked and carted away books claiming that they were being “used to incite and organise the recent protest”.
The personnel were also said to have invaded the 10th floor of the building.
“Armed security men, both in uniform and mufti just invaded the Labour House in their numbers and were at the 10th Floor and 2nd Floor…
“They broke into second floor and ransacked books at the bookshop carrying all the materials into their van claiming that the materials were used to incite and organise the recent protest,” said the eyewitness.
“I was there…. Some of the security operatives were masked…, most of them actually… Some wore police uniform while others wore black tee shirts and trousers…;” the eyewitness added.
Efforts to speak with NLC’s Head of Information, Comrade Benson Upah proved abortive as calls to his mobile phone did not go through.
