JUDICIARY workers in Benue State have resumed duties after a five-month strike, following the state government’s commitment to addressing their demands for better wages and improved working conditions.

The Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN), Benue State chapter, officially called off the industrial action on Tuesday, April 22, after productive negotiations with the government.

In a memo signed by State Chairman of JUSUN, Comrade Aba Terlumun, the union directed all members to return to work on Wednesday, April 23, 2025.

The strike, which began on December 6, 2024, was initiated to push for the implementation of the new minimum wage and other welfare-related issues affecting judicial staff.

The suspension comes as a relief to workers, who have demonstrated remarkable solidarity and perseverance throughout the prolonged industrial action.

Comrade Terlumun commended the resilience of union members and acknowledged the government’s willingness to engage in meaningful dialogue.

He urged all judiciary staff to resume work promptly, signaling a new chapter of cooperation between the workers and the state.

With courts reopening, normal judicial operations are set to resume across Benue State, allowing for the resolution of pending cases and restoring access to justice for citizens.

The resolution of the dispute marks a significant victory for workers’ rights and sets a positive precedent for labour relations in the state.

Workers expressed optimism about the government’s assurances and look forward to the full implementation of the agreed terms.

The return to work has been widely celebrated as a step toward fairer working conditions and a stronger, more efficient judiciary in Benue State.

National Record confirmed that judiciary staff reported to their offices on Wednesday, marking a peaceful and hopeful end to the prolonged strike.
