THE BENUE State Government has announced plans to facilitate the establishment of a commercial bank at Ihugh in Vandeikya LGA of the state.
Governor Hyacinth Alia disclosed this on Sunday during a thanksgiving mass in honour of his Special Adviser on the Bureau for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs (BLCA), Mr. Denen Aondoakaa, held at St. Winifred’s Church, Ihugh.
Governor Alia stated that Ihugh is one of the largest markets in Benue State, making the establishment of a bank essential to provide a secure place for business operators to deposit their earnings and conduct financial transactions.
Ihugh, situated in the Mbadede Council Ward of Vandeikya, is also the governor’s hometown.
The announcement follows a previous declaration by Alia about plans to establish a University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology in the same area.
According to the governor, these initiatives aim to enhance economic and educational opportunities in Ihugh and its surrounding communities.
