THE BENUE State Government has directed political appointees interested in contesting elective positions to formally indicate their interest and tender their resignation.
The directive was contained in a press release issued on Tuesday by the Deputy Governor of Benue State, Mr Sam Ode, amid rising political activities and aspirations for elective offices within the state.
According to the statement, political appointees who intend to seek elective positions are required to submit formal letters of expression of interest, accompanied by their resignation letters, to enable proper administrative processing.
The release stated that all such letters should be forwarded to the Office of the Deputy Governor not later than Thursday, December 18, 2025, for onward transmission to Governor Hyacinth Alia for further consideration.
The Deputy Governor noted that the directive became necessary in view of the increasing political engagements and leadership ambitions aimed at promoting good governance and consolidating the achievements of the current administration.
The government appealed to affected appointees to comply promptly with the directive, stressing that timely submission would facilitate smooth coordination and decision-making.
